ABOUT UYUIC
The University of Yangon - University Interim Council (UYUIC) was established to respond to the educational challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and the military coup in Myanmar. UYUIC is dedicated to upholding human rights, dignity, and academic freedom as outlined in the University Interim Charter. It offers internationally aligned credit systems and programs for students involved in the Civil Disobedience Movement.
STUDY
Academic Programs
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Yangon offered degree programs in 20 different disciplines for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. In response to the pandemic and the military coup in Myanmar, the University Interim Council has implemented academic programs to support students whose education was disrupted, providing pathways for them to continue their studies and earn degrees. The University is dedicated to ensuring that students can continue learning, stay engaged on the ground, and meet their educational needs.

As stated in our charter, we are dedicated to fostering an environment where critical inquiry and rigorous intellectual exploration thrive. Our research initiatives are strengthened by collaborations with independent research groups and academic institutions, ensuring a dynamic exchange of ideas and the pursuit of impactful discoveries, even in this challenging circumstances.
Student Life
The students of the University of Yangon exemplify resilience and dedication, continually upholding the values of education and intellectual freedom despite challenging circumstances. The University of Yangon Students’ Union has been pivotal in carrying out essential missions, ensuring the continuation of interim education, and advocating for the community through various initiatives. The Oway Journal serves as a vital publication, intellectually engaging with the public, while the Students Without Borders (S.w/o.B) fundraising program unites people and students worldwide in supporting CDM staff and teachers. Together, these initiatives showcase the unwavering spirit and commitment of our students to makin a meaningful impact.
PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS
The University of Yangon – University Interim Council (UYUIC) is working together with both local and international institutions to develop interim education programs. Through our programs or those offered by affiliated universities and institutions such as the Virtual Federal University, students have the opportunity to earn credit units toward a bachelor's degree.
